Search Process

Senior executive search must be completed with maximum discretion, to ensure that the strategy is upheld, and confidentiality is ensured.

Therefore, we employ the following search process:

  1. Take a brief of the role, including position descriptions, organisational relationships, career paths, company background, long term forward strategy, and any complexity/sensitivities regarding the project.
  2. Establish the target database of appropriate contacts.
  3. Enter the marketplace. Most relevant candidates (typically 4-6) are contacted first, and assessed against criteria. If these candidates are not appropriate, then next circle of candidates are contacted, and so on, until the long list is established.
  4. Pitch the opportunity. Given the challenges in securing top senior executives, it is imperative that we have access to company strategy and senior management, in order to promote the position as accurately and effectively as possible. The client's identity is not divulged at this stage if there are confidentiality issues.
  5. Assess interested candidates, based on approved criteria from the client.
  6. Present shortlisted candidate reports to all appropriate line and HR managers. Typically we present shortlists in person, to ensure that the client has all the necessary information to assess whether they wish to meet a candidate.
  7. In-person interviews with appropriate managers are conducted with appropriate candidates. Initial interviews are held either at the clients' offices, or on Touchstone's premises.
  8. Top candidate(s) interviews on-site at client's office, with accompanying tours and conversations with other relevant managers.
  9. Preferred candidate is chosen and notified.
  10. References are checked against approved criteria. Psychometric testing also conducted at this stage.
  11. Salary package negotiated. Typically Touchstone would negotiate salary between client and candidate.
  12. Preferred candidate hired and inducted into client's business.
  13. Follow-up by lead consultant over the next 12 months to ensure that client and candidate are satisfied with progress.
