She gained her Bachelor of Social Science in 1992, and went to Washington State University in the USA to complete her MA in Criminal Justice in 1994.

While at WSU she began her interest in social services, as a key member of the local National Youth Sports Program team, an organization ran by the NCAA to introduce sport and general support to at - risk youth throughout America .

Returning to Australia in 1994, Jo completed a Diploma of Education.

Jo took on a role as a Corrections Officer for the Department of Corrections, helping people on community based orders complete their obligations, and aiding them in working through other challenges that they faced.

Jo then went on to work with the Department of Human Services as a Child Protection Officer, helping at-risk children and their families through difficult circumstances significant enough to require the Department's attention. This included counseling parents and children, setting up programs to ensure that family relationships were positive, and in worst case scenarios, physically removing children from abusive environments.

Jo left the Department of Human Services to have Chris and Jo's daughters, Millie and Tessa, and later returned to work as a teacher.

Jo then shifted to a corporate career, working with a niche search firm in a key research/administration role, where she worked with consultants at a project level, as well as on company administrative issues.

As a founder of Touchstone, Jo currently manages all finance and administration, leading the back-office functions within the company.
